I don’t know about your wonderful self, but I just LOVE giving gifts – seriously, I’ll find any excuse to buy someone a present and don’t even get me started on wrapping paper and ribbon, it’s an unhealthy obsession. Now, I’m not going to start referring to myself as the Queen of Gift Giving (ha ha ha, I don’t do that, that would be sad…) but I am bloody good at finding a great present.
Birthday season is upon me… I know people are born all year round but many people who are special to me have clustered birthdays in Feb-March and again in July-August – these my busiest months on the gift giving front! I realise I’m beginning to make myself sound a bit like Santa… If I carry on consuming cheeseburgers at this rate, I may end up a similar size.
I love buying presents that can be sentimental and kept for a long time – I think it’s so lovely to have things to look back on, I still have the bracelet my parents bought me for my 16th birthday. One website that sells great jewellery is Uncommon Goods – lots of their jewellery has a special meaning behind it, which I think makes a great touch – check out more of their unique prezzies for her!
Something I do find really hard is buying gifts for MEN – I don’t know why, but I just find the guys I know are wayyyy harder to find presents for. I always think a solid starting place is something drinking game related (as my good friend Billy knows) so I LOVE this ‘Beeropoly’ game. Monopoly has been tagged with a ‘boring’ label, given the length of time it takes to set everything up and buy the properties – let’s spice it up with some o’ the old BEVERAGES. I love having loads of options in one place, I’ve found the easiest way to do this is by browsing a men’s gifts section!
Uncommon Goods have some great company values and that’s one of the reasons why I love them. It was initially founded by a chap named Dave Bolotsky who wanted to make it easier for sellers to connect with those who wanted to buy their unique and unusual creations! One of my favourite things about the business is their Better to Give programme, which allows you to pick an non-profit organisation to receive a donation from the company – since this scheme began in 2001, the company has donated over $1 million. On top of this, they are committed to being environmentally responsible so don’t sell any products containing leather, feathers or fur.
It’s amazing how many cool gifts you can find on there, I love that you can find something for everyone within a massive range of prices. I’ve got my eyes on some of these quirky presents for my friends – AUGUST BABIES, I’M COMING FOR YA!
I hope you enjoy browsing the website and looking at all of the quirky things.
Stacks of love,
