Get Well Soon

Hello, you!   Those of you who follow me on Instagram or Twitter may know that I’ve been really unwell again – the pain I experienced in April/May time returned. This time, it clearly couldn’t be my appendix (as originally thought) as they had already removed it earlier this year – you can read about this here.  Over summer, I had twinges of the original pain – it was so distinctive – I assumed, and desperately hoped, that it was just scarring from the operation to remove my appendix. In early September, the pain started becoming more frequent, with a couple of twinges happening per day instead of over a couple of weeks – I went back to the doctor and he said to see how I went, book an appointment for three weeks time and review it then. Little did I know, in the space of those three weeks, I’d have had two more appointments with a new consultant AND a surgery. On the 15th September, my pain became so unbearable that I had to go to A&E, they refused to discharge me given how much morphine I needed so I stayed in for a couple of nights –… View Post

Snazzy Salteria

Hello, you! If you don’t know, two of my great loves in life are colours (I’m genuinely next level obsessed) and accessories – particularly bags. I was scrolling through the explore section on Instagram when I saw these UNBELIEVABLY SNAZZY, brightly patterned clutch bags. I clicked on the profile to discover Salteria… A design company founded by the lovely Bethany Salt. I REALLY wanted to work with Beth because her designs are so incredible and she deserves way more recognition.     Beth was kind enough to gift me the ‘Phoenix’ bag – I LOVE the pattern and the neon yellow with all the different colours. I love the designs so much that I went on to buy the ‘Mantis’ bag myself, which has sequins embroidered. My friends could tell you that my typical ‘night out’ outfit is ALLL black, so I love having accessories that really stand out – these bags do exactly that. How could they NOT catch your eye?   Phoenix A little bit about Bethany   My name is Bethany Rose Salt but most people just call me Beth, I’m 24 and I like being this age.. that might be because I still feel 15! Put Your War Paint On

Hello, you!   Forgive me for any errors in this post, I’m writing it dosed up on codeine and morphine. I’ve been back in hospital this week and I’m now under the care of a consultant for further investigation – it’s all fun and games. Since I got home, I’ve been lolloping around in a painkiller haze, rocking my unicorn jimjams (don’t know whether to be proud or horrified that I own these age 20) and desperately trying to find a new series to get into. Something that has been SO important to me when I’ve been ill (be that mentally or physically) is PUTTING MY WAR PAINT ON. Just to clarify… by this I do not mean army stripes and tribal markings. I mean glorious MAKE UP. If you’re a regular make up wearer, like myself, putting your make up on, even when you’re feeling so shitty it’s almost beyond belief, can really help you to feel more like yourself again. People have sometimes said to me ‘are you seriously putting make up on just to sit in the house????’ but it makes me feel more like it’s a normal day. I’m not saying it’s going to cure you… View Post

For the Love of Gigs

Hello, you!   I don’t know whether you do too, but I bloody love gigs. Music runs in my family (I can hear my best friend saying the ‘no one runs in your family’ joke right now) and I’ve grown up surrounded by it so gigs hold a lot of value for me – some people prioritise having extravagant possessions, but for me, life is all about experiences. It all started at the youthful age of 9 where I attended my first concert – wait for it… Pussycat Dolls and Rihanna on their joint tour. I remember being rather amused when they kept filming Rihanna’s bum to put on the big screens – thinking about it now, it was quite an odd thing to do given that the majority of the audience would probably have been female and whilst we can all appreciate a good GIRL CRUSH, it wasn’t really what we went to see. Anyway, I digress… Baby me cried at feeling the bass in my chest (very autistic of me) because I didn’t understand what it was, but once I knew it wasn’t hurting me, I couldn’t get enough of it! Fast forward 11 years and I think… View Post

Birthday Season is Upon me | AD

Hello, you! I don’t know about your wonderful self, but I just LOVE giving gifts – seriously, I’ll find any excuse to buy someone a present and don’t even get me started on wrapping paper and ribbon, it’s an unhealthy obsession. Now, I’m not going to start referring to myself as the Queen of Gift Giving (ha ha ha, I don’t do that, that would be sad…) but I am bloody good at finding a great present. Birthday season is upon me… I know people are born all year round but many people who are special to me have clustered birthdays in Feb-March and again in July-August – these my busiest months on the gift giving front! I realise I’m beginning to make myself sound a bit like Santa… If I carry on consuming cheeseburgers at this rate, I may end up a similar size. I love buying presents that can be sentimental and kept for a long time – I think it’s so lovely to have things to look back on, I still have the bracelet my parents bought me for my 16th birthday. One website that sells great jewellery is Uncommon Goods – lots of their jewellery has… View Post
