Happy Notes

Hello, you!   Hope you’re well, please do excuse my month long absence – clearly my ‘twice weekly’ posting schedule is just not something I roll with, ALAS, here I am – surprise! Over the last month, I have developed the habit of writing happy notes and leaving them in places, like books, for people to find. If you don’t know what a happy note is, essentially all it is is a bit of paper/post-it note/you name it, with a positive message written on it. I left these notes around a couple of times when I was sixteen but then the misery of life got the better of me and there was no more joy to spread, STOP YOUR TEARS, I’M KIDDING – I don’t know why I stopped doing it, to be honest, so here I am, back at it again, aged 21.   You may have seen these on Instagram   I regularly get into the habit of collecting things for a ‘creative project’… Sometimes I won’t even have a project, I’ll just see something and think ‘this could be so cool for something one day’ – I blame my mum and her many creative ventures. Just over… View Post

Failures and Faux Pas

Hello, you!   I turned 21 a few weeks ago – you probably know this if you’re either in my life personally or follow me on Instagram because I have NOT STOPPED banging on about it. I do apologise, but I’m big on celebrating! I’m sure the photo below shows how much I DO NOT SHY AWAY from birthdays. Lots of my friends at uni thought this was a serious look, as in I actually went out thinking ‘hell yeah, I’m gonna be fighting off the lads tonight – WATCH OUT, RYAN’ – but clearly, I was (as I regularly do) taking the piss out of myself.     As I’ve reached the final, big milestone birthday before 30, I thought it would be fun to share some of my adult failures with you. These are some of the small (and sometimes hugely embarrassing) faux pas I’ve made since I turned 18… That is, I was definitely old enough to know better. I’d like to add a disclaimer now, to try and retain at least SOME dignity, and say that these are not an accurate representation of my intelligence (I hope), and with that, AWAY WE GO!   I used… View Post

‘Learn to Rest, Not to Quit’

Hello, you!   I am absolutely living by this marvellous Banksy quote at the minute – ‘If you get tired, learn to rest, not to quit’. It’s almost a month on from my surgery (you can read about it here) and as the pain is VERY gradually getting better, the exhaustion from everything that has happened is really starting to set in. Every Sunday I say to myself ‘I’m going to go into labs tomorrow’ and every Monday morning I’m unable to get out of bed, due to a combination of pain, painkillers and lack of sleep. It’s been very frustrating because I hate not being able to do anything and I’m going a bit stir crazy. Yesterday I said my famous sentence, that I was planning on going into uni on Monday, and my lovely boyfriend said ‘try not to get your hopes up because you always get disappointed’ – he said this in a kind way, don’t worry, not a ‘lol good luck with that one, love’ way! It really resonated with me because I need to let my body rest, just because I don’t go into university at the minute, doesn’t mean I’m quitting and giving up,… View Post

Get Well Soon

Hello, you!   Those of you who follow me on Instagram or Twitter may know that I’ve been really unwell again – the pain I experienced in April/May time returned. This time, it clearly couldn’t be my appendix (as originally thought) as they had already removed it earlier this year – you can read about this here.  Over summer, I had twinges of the original pain – it was so distinctive – I assumed, and desperately hoped, that it was just scarring from the operation to remove my appendix. In early September, the pain started becoming more frequent, with a couple of twinges happening per day instead of over a couple of weeks – I went back to the doctor and he said to see how I went, book an appointment for three weeks time and review it then. Little did I know, in the space of those three weeks, I’d have had two more appointments with a new consultant AND a surgery. On the 15th September, my pain became so unbearable that I had to go to A&E, they refused to discharge me given how much morphine I needed so I stayed in for a couple of nights –… View Post

Snazzy Salteria

Hello, you! If you don’t know, two of my great loves in life are colours (I’m genuinely next level obsessed) and accessories – particularly bags. I was scrolling through the explore section on Instagram when I saw these UNBELIEVABLY SNAZZY, brightly patterned clutch bags. I clicked on the profile to discover Salteria… A design company founded by the lovely Bethany Salt. I REALLY wanted to work with Beth because her designs are so incredible and she deserves way more recognition.     Beth was kind enough to gift me the ‘Phoenix’ bag – I LOVE the pattern and the neon yellow with all the different colours. I love the designs so much that I went on to buy the ‘Mantis’ bag myself, which has sequins embroidered. My friends could tell you that my typical ‘night out’ outfit is ALLL black, so I love having accessories that really stand out – these bags do exactly that. How could they NOT catch your eye?   Phoenix A little bit about Bethany   My name is Bethany Rose Salt but most people just call me Beth, I’m 24 and I like being this age.. that might be because I still feel 15! I… View Post
