Not Today Sadness: The Ultimate Happy Playlist

Hello, you! It’s been a while… You should know that right now in my head after typing that, all I can think of is the opening of Britney’s big comeback song ‘Break the Ice’ where she says ‘it’s been a while… I know I shouldn’t have kept you waiting… But I’m here now’ because clearly, you’ve been waiting with baited breath for my monumental return like we all did for Britney’s post 2007 resurgence.  Anyway, it’s been a bloody rough month. In my last post I spoke about how I was bored of recovering a month after my surgery, HAHA – two months on… I’m still recovering. I don’t know why I thought a ‘three month recovery’ would mean a couple of weeks to actually recover from the surgical pain and then another few weeks of feeling tired, GOOD LORD, I was wrong. It’s two months on now and I’m just bloody knackered. I’ve genuinely had some of the worst days of my life since my last blog post, I’ve felt incredibly lost and I’ve really struggled – in a way I never really have before. My second surgery absolutely obliterated me, I have genuinely felt dead… Like the only thing living about… View Post

Mondays are for Celebrating

Hello, you!   Today I was reunited with my best friend Leila – one of the most positive and sunny natured people I know. We were both super excited see each other after a fair while apart so we decided to continue our long standing tradition of eating a double cheeseburger and playing absolute TUNES… Us singing together in the car rapidly escalated to us blasting out the songs and singing to strangers passing by, lucky them! We had SO much fun, call us sad if you wish but you can get a lot of happiness from driving round with happy songs playing at full volume, singing at the top of your voice – especially when the sun is shining. It was so entertaining that we ended up doing it for around THREE hours, driving allllll over the city and into different car parks. By the end of it, we had experienced a full range of reactions… The most common reaction we had was people smiling or laughing at us, we massively enjoyed this, it’s nice to think you’ve made someone smile even a little bit, isn’t it? As for the laughing, we will gladly be the laughing stock so… View Post

Rocking the Red Lip

Hello, you!   Today has been a shitty day, but I managed to conquer it with the number one weapon in my arsenal – A RED LIPSTICK. I don’t think there’s any other type of make-up that makes me feel as strong as a kickass red lip and sometimes, you’ve just got to drag yourself out of bed and put your war paint on.     Loads of people have said to me ‘I don’t feel confident enough to wear red’ or ‘red lipstick won’t suit me’ – NO! I genuinely believe that there’s a red lipstick for everyone, bloody hell, sounds like we’re talking about ‘soul mates’ here, but with lipstick, we may as well be. I believe in red lipstick suiting everyone as strongly as I believe that all men look good in a blue shirt – something that no one has yet proved wrong – fellas, take my advice on this one;) It’s just about finding a red that suits you, or one that you love and feel comfortable in, whether people think it suits you or not – to hell with them, it’s your time to SLAY. Whether it’s a bright red or a red wine… View Post

We need to talk about… Soul Pancake

Hello, you! We need to talk about Soul Pancake. Soul Pancake create the most life affirming and uplifting content that never fails to cheer me up. Having been a subscriber to their YouTube channel for a good few years now, their videos always bring a smile to my face – no matter how rubbish I might be feeling. Their video ‘Take a Seat, Make a Friend’ is quite possibly my favourite thing on the internet. They invite strangers into a ball-pit (because why should it only be children that get the fun?) and ask them to talk about particular topics. It’s no good me explaining it, watch the video for yourself… Just bloody lovely, heartwarming stuff, right? The most important thing for me about Soul Pancake is how they tackle big issues and don’t shy away from them. Right now, they’re doing a series of videos called ‘How You See Me’ where people describe their experience of having a disability, coming from an Asian background and being a member of the LGBTQ community, to name only a few! Then, there is the legend that is, Kid President. Honestly, this kid has sass levels that could rival Beyonce’s. In the video ‘A Pep… View Post
